New Moon in Sagittarius

I have to admit, that since the Moon entered the sign of Sagittarius at 5:22pm EST, on December 11th, 2012, that I have been dancing from one new event to another.  I have met many new faces, some whom I may never see again, and I have been quite open to the lite conversation.  All this is the sign of Sagittarius.

It’s not a mistake that at this time of year, in the northern hemisphere when the light is becoming less and less, and the elements call for inward hibernation, that there is an excited movement to move out into the world with our holiday socializing.  This is so Sagittarius.  Laughter, dancing, swinging from the chandelier, it’s all about having a good time.  Sag also represents the connection to family.  For many, we either journey back to our family of origin,  or perhaps gather with the family we have created over the years, or we adopt a group for the holidays to share a smile and perhaps a meal.  It’s a great time to create new friendship.

The magic of this time period has to do with the month-long transit of the Sun in Sagittarius.  From approximately November 21st to December 21st, the Sun sashays through this gregarious sign.  Attending every party it can find, eating every piece of eye-popping food it can wrap its lips around and laughing until the cows come home, is its way of life.  It is a silly sign, and even though it’s willing to stay up until all hours of the night to make sure it’s not missing a thing, you can make sure that once it’s rested up, Sag is ready for the next adventure.  At this time of year, we are all Sagittarius and gaining weight is the norm.

At 3:42am EST, on December 13, 2012 the Moon buddies up next to the Sun.  Both in Sagittarius, now our masculine and feminine lines up.  When the Sun and the Moon conjunct, the sky is dark at night, the world become quiet and it’s time for peace.  Quite contrary to the actual sign of Sagittarius.  Perhaps it’s a gift to have a softening of Sag in the middle of its annual run.  New Moons are inward times, where we have the opportunity to reflect and renew.  They are the seed planting time which allow us to set intentions for future manifestations.  For this New Moon, it will be Sag-style intentions.  From who and where do we gain our joy?  What type of activities inspire us? Does our life-style match our core philosophy?  and to what foreign places would we like to travel?  Reflecting on, and answering these questions at the New Moon and releasing our answers to the universe creates an opportunity for manifestation of these personal desires.  The Moon is about feeling, and when we can really feel the joy and happiness that these answers can bring us, we can create this happiness into our lives.
